Organic Production

Egypt as a country of production for organic produce provides many benefits to farms and operations in Egypt, their workforce and also for consumers in Germany.

Although Egypt - in comparison to South Africa - is the second most industrialized country in Africa agriculture remains an important economic sector in addition to tourism.

The idea of organic agriculture in Egypt is mainly determined by two factors.

Firstly, more and more producers in Egypt realize that only through the careful use of nature, which ultimately forms the basis for agriculture in the future, it is possible to produce high quality products. On the other hand producers change and extend their organic cultivation due to the increasing demand and the resulting changes in consumer demand for organic products. This sector promises an important market for the future which leads to investments in new, previously unmanaged cropland and to the expansion of sustainably managed plantations.

The biggest difference between organic and conventional farming is that in organic produce no artificial chemical substances (pesticides) and no mineral fertilizers may be used. Instead of this natural substances as a part of an "ecological circulation" are used.

During the cultivation it ist taken care of a resource-efficient use of the factor water. However a food production in Egypt without the use of artificial irrigation is - as in all the world's arid regions - not possible. Here it is to use the factor of water efficiently. This is undoubtedly the case for the production of high-quality fresh vegetables, such as potatoes.. There is a very close relationship between water use and production output.
Note:

1 kg of potatoes 150 litres of water
1 kg of grain 1.500 litres of water
1 kg of beef 15.000 litres of water

Geographical Location

The development of areas with access to the Nile Valley, the Nile Delta and some oases has top priority. Thus desert areas are being developed into new areas managed for agriculture.

The areas for the production of biological products include multiple locations. Approximately 120 km northwest of Cairo there is a large growing area. This includes the El-Nour farms where many of our products are grown.
